This wine has just arrived, having tasted last month and really impressed. We’ve always liked the wines Bea makes from Quinta dos Carvalhais in te Dao region of Portugal and this is equally a delight. Whilst not all the fruit is from their own estate, they relay on some respected long establlished contract growers but the wine is made at the Quinta.
The grapes were fermented separately in stainless steel vats at 16 degrees C. for approx. 20 days. Prior to bottling 25% was aged in used French oak barrels for 4 months, which gives extra complexity and interest to the middle palate. The nose offers, white floral notes, stone fruits and refreshing acidity balances the wine. It is just perfect on a warm summers day with a simple salad. 12% vol.
