Murgas Bucelas Branco 2021

£24.00

The chalky limestone soils, with a little clay in areas, suit the Arinto grape perfectly. It helps with purity and vibrancy of fruit, freshness, and minerality. The proximity of the region to the sea also brings freshness and salinity to the wine. This is why Bucelas has such a long and distinguished history as one of Portugals main regions and wine styles.

Murgas have gone back to the good old days with their Bucelas, focusing on representaion of terroir and varietal character. Plenty of lively citrus, with some orchard fruit, minerality in spades, plus a little oak and lees adding complexity. Structure to age very well, but it never lasts that long!

Maybe Chablis could be considered the Bucelas of France…
