Domaine La Meuliere Chablis, 2022

This is a new Chablis producer for us and I love the fact that it is slightly fuller in style than our other producers ( think Duplessis Chablis). A 9th generation family which have been in Chablis since 1779. The current custodians are brothers, Vincent and Nicolas Laroche.

They are lucky to own 30 hectares, but spread over 40 different plots! Based primarily as you would expect on the calcarious-limestone-kimmeridigan clay, which brings on those mineral/flinty notes.

More expressive than some 2022 Chablis’s we’ve tasted but still held the 12.5% and harvested by hand from 6th-14th September 2022. Upon arriving at the winery the grapes were crushed, taken off their skins and cold soaked for 24 hrs prior to the start of fermentation in stainless steel vats.

Lemony, citrus, ripe honeyed apples, white floral notes. Good refreshing acidity. A Chablis worthy of its price tag!
