I have known this wine for well over thirty years now and certainly might be on the wines that got be into the wine trade in the first place. Whilst labelled only as Cotes du Rhone, it is far more than that (as the price tag indicates), this is seriously good Cotes du Rhone from a declassified Chateauneuf du Pape vineyard as Mon. Pouzin senior was not want to adhere to boundary rules and regulations.
The wine has been certified organic for many years and practices biodynamics. Made from old vine with an average age of 50 years. Fermented in 60% concrete vats and 40% in large foudres for 24 months.
Lovely expressive red fruit and spicy characters on the nose, red berries confirmed on the palate with soft approachable tannins and well balanced. Drink now and over the next 5 – 8 years. 14% vol.
