Spring has sprung!
This is always an exciting time of the year and possibly one of my favourite’s, both personally and professionally. With the nights getting longer there’s now chance to actually sit outside (with of course a warm jumper and umbrella!) and enjoy a glass of wine as nature is in full swing.
From a recent Instagram post of ours, we’ve been having a SPRING CLEAN and it’s out with the old and in with the new. Accordingly, we’ve had lots of new wines already delivered into stock… and more en route in the coming weeks.
The country is gearing up for the King’s Coronation and the pomp and pageantry is going to be as impressive as ever. We therefore, have another day of holiday and we’ll duly close the shop for the day on Saturday 6th May. However, we’ll be open later on Friday evening!
There have been a lucky few to have already sampled our new Malbec from Swartland in South Africa, named ‘Here and There’ and only £9.50 – this is crying out for a BBQ.
Our new Ribera del Duero offering called Rippa Dorri (meaning ‘banks of the Duero’ in its Ancestral Latin form), a Crianza that’s been winning hearts and minds and priced at only £14.50.
These wines are actually made by our Rioja friends at Bodegas Ontanon, hence they have great pedigree (visit rippadorii.es).
We also have a couple of Sauvignon Blancs to quench your thirst, one from South Africa. Acquiline Sauvignon Blanc (£7.95) and a New Zealand Sauvignon Te Merio from Nelson (rather than Marlborough) and offers slightly different profile, more rounded in style both on nose and palate. Priced at £11.95.
Nelson is another wine growing region in South Island but in the Northwest, which is where our other friends at Neudorf and Siefried winery are based.
We also have taken on another wine from Elena at Dandelion vineyards and her Lions Tooth Shiraz-Riesling from McClaren Vale (£16.95).
As we hope the temperature rises in the coming weeks we do have some excellent Riesling (of course pronounced Reece) wines and none other than S A Prum and their excellent Blue Riesling Trocken 2019 (£23.50) from Mosel in Germany as well as her stunning Grand Cru Devon Riesling from the Wehlener Sonnenhur vineyard. Priced at £43.50.
So, that’s all for now and we do hope the weekend ahead is a good one!
